Buy Death
Born in Sweden and dropping anchor in New Orleans, Theresa Andersson finds her niche in Hummingbird, Go!. Do not miss her live show, and by show I mean playing three to five instruments per song and numerous effects pedals. Check out her video here because it's awesome. Look up musician
in the dictionary where her name should be listed.
Buy Birds Fly Away
Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, Bjork and Everything but the Girl, all in one package. Daniel, the single from the forthcoming album, Two Suns, is a haunting and beautiful glimpse into Natasha Khan's world. I have a soft spot in my heart for spooky music. Don't tell anybody. The video here is pretty good too.
Elliott Brood (Mountain Meadows) Write It All Down For You
Elliott Brood is hard to classify. Bluegrass, Indie, Country, whatever you call it, it's good. If you're getting ready for a night on the town, listen to Write It All Down For You and it'll get the evening started right. The title of the album Mountain Meadows, derived from a massacre leaving 120 people dead
........ so anyway, give this Juno nominated band a listen. They'll knock your socks off, not your heads.
Sweden has to be the coolest place on Earth with all of the talented artists calling it home. The Knife's Karin Dreijer Andersson ( I just noticed I'm recommending 2 female artists with the exact same last name) is stretching her creative legs with her first solo album. The Knife is in my top 5 so I might be biased, but Keep The Streets Empty For Me takes me away, Calgon not included. While you're at it, listen to Heartbeats here
and here.
