Lovesick Teenagers ArtistRoster presents Bear In Heaven at Hi Dive on 7/29/2010. This show will sell out, so get your tickets right now. I saw them a few short months ago when they opened for 'Cymbals Eat Guitars'. I personally think the line up should have been the other way around. PLAY MP3 |

I Was Thinking... Gauntlet Hair is opening for 'Twin Sister' and 'Bear In Heaven' this thursday. They are a local band that have been getting a lot of attention. I heard that they've been hard at work on an album, so I'm excited to hear some of their other material. They are signed to 'Forest Family Records' based in Austin TX.

Revival "If you do something nice for Deerhunter, they do something nice for you. Earlier this month, the band asked fans to help spread the word about new album Halcyon Digest (due September 28 from 4AD) by printing out posters and putting them up anywhere where people might see them. In return, Deerhunter revealed the album's cover art and tracklist to these folks before anyone else. And now they've shared a new single with their street-teamers."

The Bully Plank "It is a sweet set of hip hop tunes with nary a rapper in sight. There are vocals - a couple of tracks with Dessa and one with Maggie Morrison (singer in Lookbook), and a lot of sampled snippets too. Remember the golden days of instrumental hip hop back in the mid '90s? This record totally takes me back to those days - DJ Shadow's Endtroducing is a clear influence." PLAY MP3

Breakfast ft. Kate Nash "Okay, so there’s rap/rock, funk/rap, indie rockers who ironically cover rap tunes, electrorap, pop-rap (which universally sucks), and now there’s Chiddy Bang. This rap crew has been getting growing exposure (even on MTV) because their beats are as intelligent as their lyrics. It’s party rap that’s not stupid, demeaning, or demoralizing, with beats relying on hooks (and extended samples) from songs by Ellie Goulding, Kate Nash, Gorillaz, La Roux and more." PLAY MP3

Sprawl II I didn't want to like the latest Arcade Fire album 'The Suburbs', but every track is just too good to deny. I thought, "The albums can't continue to get better, especially since they've gotten pretty popular". I was wrong. Each track has it's own style and the group are masters at layering instruments. Several tracks off the latest album have leaked on the internet, so if you dig around you can hear them before the album releases in September. PLAY MP3 |

Real Love "There is a certain obscureness about Delorean’s Real Love. Initially, my first reaction was to skip to the next song, but as soon as the vocals began, I was more than proven wrong. The meshing of all the individual sounds with the addition of the lead vocals create a peculiar yet alluring result." PLAY MP3

Keep The Fire (Justin Faust dub) "Justin Faust was born into beats in 1976 the son of a composer and producer, so he's no stranger to a music studio. His music, which blends harmonic disco, distorted synth, 'dreamwave' and catchy keys, all add elements that could incite you to fall happily asleep or raise your hands up in ecstasy on the dance floor depending on your mood. Justin Faust encourages you to not think, just dance!"

The Sweat Descends "I have no idea when or how I first came to hear Les Savy Fav’s “The Sweat Descends,” but I do know it was the first Les Savy Fav song I had ever heard. I believe it was probably very early into college and I seem to remember that it lead me straight to being a fan of McLusky. Not too shabby. But five years later the chorus still does grips my guts like no other song I’ve ever heard. It’s this mindblowing union of the power and buildup of hardcore punk and the melody and hook of pop music. The result is a chorus that I usually want to sing and always want to shout." PLAY MP3

Bang Bang Bang (Russ Chimes remix) by Mark Ronson "This could not have happened any sooner. One of the hottest summer jams by one of the world’s favorite music producers gets remixed by remix extraordinaire. Mark Ronson’s “Bang Bang Bang” featuring MDNR and old school icon Q-Tip got remixed by mix master Russ Chimes. A tune already hopping with beats that’ll more than just bob your head completely explodes in this remix. The basslines hit you harder and absolutely raises the roof to another level. Is there a song out there that Russ Chimes can do wrong? "

Runaway (Rocket Boy remix) "Rocket Boy is a relatively unknown Swedish duo and there is not very much information out there on them. However, what I do know is they can take Rosanna’s ‘Runaway’ and breathe a whole different life into it simply by swapping out the original two chord piano chorus for a layered, synth keyboard sound. ‘Runaway’ transforms from a dance, pop song to an electronic ballad."

GHOSTS "I really haven’t liked much of the new artists being talked about on the blogosphere and thus the lack of posts. I might even put up some old stuff that I haven’t discussed before. But, I heard of this band called ‘The Hundred In The Hands’ which is the duet of Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell. They craft moody, goth in the summertime, ethereal music. I really like their track ‘Ghosts’." PLAY MP3 |

Young Blood "The Naked and Famous, a new pop group from New Zealand, have possibly outdone Foster The People on jam of the summer. This track off their upcoming album due out in August is pure pop bliss. The infectious chorus is reminiscent of Passion Pit’s “The Reeling” and “Little Secrets” with a dash of MGMT’s “Electric Feel” and a touch of Does It Offend You Yeah’s “Dawn of the Dead”. Usually mixing all those different similar sounds makes for musical hipster puke but this band pulls it off with an effortless cool-factor. This is the kinda song that makes you feel like you’re young and invincible and summer is endless." PLAY MP3 |
