Five "Chicago’s Young Man, otherwise known as Colin Caulfield, knows the magic of the five-year-old mind. His latest EP, simply titled Boy inhabits that space of child-like curiosity and joy, indulging in that familiar sense of moment-to-momentness - where there’s always time for another story, dinosaurs still exist and every new discovery titters on the euphoric. Every lingering melody and ariel sounscape on this EP plays like a new page in a child’s baby book, chronicling the short list of any young boy’s most predominant concerns – playtime, bedtime, growing and yes, more playtime. It’s juvenile in only the right ways, provoking images of wide-eyed innocence, shy giggles behind Mommy’s skirts and gangly, swinging legs that don’t quite yet reach the floor."

Slow "Do you like happen to like Joy Division? Do you dig The Cure? Those questions were more rhetorical than anything but if you do, check out Twin Shadow. A really cool sound from a guy who has yet to release an album."

You Need Better "Their song “You Need Better” is a delicate track with a gentle but proud banjo tickle. The group’s arrangements are far more than the simple drips of the banjo lines; they know their way around the lush landscape of layered strings and cavernous organs too. All of this creates an entrancing musical effect. Their patiently assembled songs build slowly and beautifully giving your mind plenty of time to saveur all it’s intricacies."

Forever Leisure "Four young lads from London, who make up the band Ideals, have been on our radar this summer, and we still think they have strong potential to break-out at anytime. Last week, they sent us a brand new track, “Forever Leisure”."

Old Fangs "Black Mountain, sounding every bit their name on their third LP, (Wilderness Heart, due on September 14) seem hell bent on cranking the aggression up to the point where a multi-story shark graces their album cover. Second single, "The Hair Song," is a frustrated corner of the garage rock neighborhood, taut with enough pop hooks to not slum it entirely. The shark, well, this is another matter entirely. This is rock and roll and it will rip you in half."

Until Dawn Takes Flight "If you’re not onto San Fransisco’s dreamwave pop wonder Blackbird Blackbird, then you are seriously missing out. Mikey S., the man behind the birds, has released numerous free LPs and EPs (check the bandcamp), and is now readying a new EP, Rarities. The subscribers to his Tumblr blog have recently been treated to two tracks off of it and they are off the charts."

Speck "What’s truly surprising about the band’s new LP Larger Than Human is not the guitar wizardry on display, formidable as it might be, but the depth with which the sound is incorporated into the group’s layered and mysterious sound. One moment Neff acts the chanteuse, lithe and nimble in her articulation, bubbling softly over waves of propelling rhythm care of bassist Will Krause and drummer Cameron Page, and the next the beast of her guitar roars to life, searing a certain passage or rip-roaring through a particular breakdown with hot wreckless abandon."

Short And Entertaining (Mixhell remix) "I won’t lie, Jamaica sounds a lot like Phoenix. A lot. However, their debut record, No Problem, was produced by Justice’s Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk’s sound engineer, Peter Franco, which automatically makes it somewhat intriguing. On top of that, this version of lead single Short & Entertaining has been sliced-and-diced by Mixhell, the dba of Cavalera Conspiracy/Sepultura drummer Igor Cavalera and his wife, Laima."

Click Shaw "Choppy and angular, Reporter’s “Click Shaw” feels musically weighty – anchored by handclaps and a strolling bass line. But the vocals are decidedly airy, freeing the track from what could have strayed into something far more industrial than dance-centric. And it’s fantastic."

Give Me Your Love "Like Ladyhawke or label-mates Friendly Fires, Florrie produces music that appeals as much to chart lovers as indie hipsters; a combination which is sure to bring success. The new track, Give Me Your Love continues in this vein and represents the good side of pop; it’s fun, catchy and, most importantly, original."

Smoke And Mirrors (radio edit) “That Ali Love is certainly a crazy fellow, giving out lots of high-quality Mp3’s of very good remixes of his work. This time he’s giving away his fantastic new single ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ + 2 free remixes fom Villa (pretty pricey) and Bottin (also probably quite pricey) for nothing."
