So I just moved from Denver Colorado in the US to the beautiful city of Sydney in Australia. I can’t begin to tell you what a change this is, but I’m excited to experience a new city. I’m not sure I’m ready to lose all of the touring bands that I was spoiled with, but I’ll survive. The first big show planned is Grizzly Bear at the Sydney Opera House. What an amazing venue to see one of my favorite bands.
I’m also excited to finally see RÜFÜS in their home town. I’ve been a fan for a few years now and they’ve been a part of my DJ sets for some time. I absolutely love ‘Paris Collides’ and get excited when I get to play it on big speakers. I found ‘Tonight (Terace remix)’ in my SoundCloud stream today and wasn’t disappointed. Have a listen.
The Keith Sweaty remix of ‘My Type’ by Saint Motel is pure joy. I’m dying to hear/play this really loud on some massive speakers. If you’re wearing headphones, turn the volume up. You get a completely different feel from the song when it’s played loud. Do it.
Listen to the latest track from Pat Grossi, aka Active Child. It’s a short and sweet instrumental track. She Cut Me is the first released track of his forthcoming album, Rapor (pronounced Rah – Poor). He also relesed a video (below) and click HERE for tour dates.
This is the debut track from 20 year old London Producer, Ben Khan. I can’t wait to hear more from him. If you’re anything like me, this track will vaguely remind you of Jasmine by Jai Paul, which I’m quite fond of. I’ll include that track below as well just for fun.
Get excited for the debut album from Savages due out via Matador on May 6.
“Savages is not trying to give you something you didn’t have already, it is calling within yourself something you buried ages ago, it is an attempt to reveal and reconnect your PHYSICAL and EMOTIONAL self and give you the urge to experience your life differently, your girlfriends, your husbands, your jobs, your erotic life and the place music occupies in your life. Because we must teach ourselves new ways of POSITIVE MANIPULATIONS, music and words are aiming to strike like lightning, like a punch in the face, a determination to understand the WILL and DESIRES of the self.”
Have a look at the video for the song ‘Shut Up’ below.
I fell in love with the original version of Disintegration featuring Dita Von Teese by Monarchy when I first saw the video. I listened to it without the visuals and still liked it (just as a gut check). Then I stumbled upon the Mighty Mouse remix and it’s good too. Have a listen, and make sure you watch the video… preferably when you’re not at work. The remix is a free download, so grab it while you can.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Small Black. Thank goodness a great track comes out after all this time. Have a listen to “Free At Dawn” by Small Black. Sounds like we’ll have to wait a few more months for the album to drop. You’ll notice that the track is far more polished compared to the tracks we grew to love in 2009. It’s nice to hear that the band is progressing along with the rest of the hazy bands from 2009.
There isn’t a lot of information on either Bowmont or Plastic Health online. It’s that, or I just lost interest in finding any more content. All I know is that both the band Bowmont and Plastic Health are from New York. In my opinion, I would call the Plastic Health version an edit over a remix because the similarities between the original and the “remix” abound. Having said that, I really enjoy the track.
